Esther Funds FoundationEvery Future Fulfilled

A ministry of Esther Funds Foundation

Esther’s Light.

Light for every student. A standard for every chaplain. Bible studies to run on any campus, a quiet place to pray, and the training and Covenant that keep EFF’s ministry safe, humble and Christ-like.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

For chapter Chaplains

Shepherd, not lord.

Every EFF chapter has a Chaplain / Director of Collegiate Ministry responsible for its spiritual life. Because students trust this office with their faith, their doubts and sometimes their worst night, EFF holds it to the highest standard.

All individuals serving in a Chaplain, Minister, or Ministry Director role within EFF — at the chapter or national level — are held to the highest standard of spiritual conduct. These leaders must demonstrate anti-hostility, respect, humility, and biblical integrity in all interactions. Any minister or chaplain found to be fostering division, hostility, or spiritual manipulation within EFF shall be subject to immediate disciplinary review and removal.

2026 EFF National Bylaws, Article III, Section 5

The path to serving

  1. 1Seated

Your chapter seats you as Chaplain / Director of Collegiate Ministry in MyEFF. The certification is assigned to you that moment.

  2. 2Certified

Finish the Director of Ministry (Chaplain) Certification in EFFective Learning: nine modules, about two and a half hours.

  3. 3Covenanted

Sign the Chaplain Covenant in your board console under Ministry. Again every academic year.

  4. 4Cleared

Care and prayer requests members send to their chapter's chaplain now come to you. Until then, they go to your President.

Always

  • Pray before every meeting and event, and invite others to lead.
  • Prepare every study. Read the passage more than once.
  • Learn names, notice who is missing, follow up.
  • Keep confidences, and say the limits before someone shares.
  • Refer early: campus counseling, 988, the Lighthouse, National.
  • Welcome every student, whatever they believe.
  • Say "I don't know" when you don't.
  • Answer to your advisor and the National Ministry Team.

Never

  • Use your title to tell anyone who to date, where to worship or how to live.
  • Say "God told me" about someone else's life to steer them.
  • Shame, mock or call anyone out, in person or online.
  • Share a prayer request or a care conversation without permission.
  • Pursue romance with someone you minister to.
  • Meet alone in a private residence for ministry.
  • Counsel beyond your training or diagnose anyone.
  • Invite a guest speaker without approval.

Signed by every Chaplain, every year

The EFF Chaplain Covenant

I serve as Chaplain / Director of Collegiate Ministry of my chapter of Esther Funds Foundation. I have completed the Director of Ministry (Chaplain) Certification, and before God and my chapter I promise:

  1. I will serve as a shepherd, not a lord: willingly, humbly and as an example, never using my role to rule over anyone (1 Peter 5:2–3).
  2. I will uphold the 2026 EFF National Bylaws, including the Chaplain & Minister Standards (Article III, Section 5), the Faith Integration Standards (Article X), the prohibition of Ministry-Based Abuse (Article XXVI) and the Spiritual Alignment and Core Values of the Code of Conduct (Article XXXIX, Section 7).
  3. I will never use spiritual language, scripture or claims of what God has told me to control, shame, frighten or direct another person's choices.
  4. I will not pursue a romantic or sexual relationship with anyone I am ministering to while I serve, and I will not use my role to gain favour, money or advantage.
  5. I will meet members for ministry in public or visible places, never alone in a private residence, and I will keep messages kind, appropriate and at reasonable hours.
  6. I will keep what is shared with me private. I will say the limits of confidentiality before someone shares, and I will get help when someone may harm themselves or others or a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
  7. I will not counsel beyond my training or diagnose anyone. I will refer early to campus counseling, 988, 911, the Lighthouse and EFF National.
  8. If someone is in danger, I will call 988 or 911 and tell my advisor and EFF National the same day.
  9. I will never share a prayer request or a care conversation, in person, in a group chat, in a study or online, without the person's permission.
  10. I will welcome every student, whatever they believe, and never pressure anyone to pray, believe, attend or share.
  11. I will invite guest speakers only with my advisor's approval and after telling EFF National, and I will follow my campus's rules for student organizations.
  12. I will plan and lead weekly or bi-weekly Bible study, prayer or devotional sessions, and make sure my chapter holds and documents at least two Bible studies every semester (Article VI, Section 10; Article XI, Section 4).
  13. I will represent Christ in person and online, and will not attack, mock or call out anyone publicly.
  14. I will answer to my advisor, my chapter's President and the National Ministry Team, and will meet with ministry leaders when asked.
  15. If I break this Covenant, I will tell EFF National. I understand that spiritual manipulation, hostility or division can lead to immediate disciplinary review and removal (Article III, Section 5), and that I keep the right to appeal under Article XXXIV.
  16. I will renew this Covenant at the start of every academic year I serve.
