Finish Strong

Galatians 6:1–10 · Perseverance, carrying each other and finishing

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Before you start

Paul writes to churches in Galatia about living by the Spirit. In this closing section he calls them to restore one another gently, bear one another's burdens, and keep doing good without giving up.

Read Galatians 6:1–10 aloud from any translation. Invite volunteers to read; never put anyone on the spot.

Icebreaker · 5 minutes

What's one thing you're determined to finish this year?

Observe · what does it say?

  1. How should we restore someone who has stumbled (verse 1)?
  2. What does verse 2 ask us to do for each other?
  3. What promise is in verse 9?

Interpret · what did it mean?

  1. Verse 2 says bear each other's burdens; verse 5 says each carries their own load. How do both fit?
  2. What does "in due season" teach about waiting?

Apply · what does it ask of us?

  1. Whose burden could you help carry this month?
  2. What will help you not faint before the end of the semester?

On your campus

Close the semester with this study and a "Finish Line" wall: everyone writes what they'll finish and who they'll help finish.

Closing prayer

God, when we are weary, hold us up. Help us carry each other to the finish, every one of us. Amen.

Take home
