Who Is My Neighbor?
Luke 10:25–37 · Service and compassion on campus
“Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.”
Luke 10:37 (KJV)
Before you start
A lawyer asks Jesus how to inherit eternal life, and then, "Who is my neighbour?" Jesus tells of a man left for dead, passed by two religious leaders, and helped by a Samaritan, someone the listeners would have seen as an outsider.
Read Luke 10:25–37 aloud from any translation. Invite volunteers to read; never put anyone on the spot.
Icebreaker · 5 minutes
Tell about a time a stranger helped you.
Observe · what does it say?
- Who passes by the injured man, and who stops?
- List everything the Samaritan does for him.
- How does Jesus turn the lawyer's question around at the end?
Interpret · what did it mean?
- Why might Jesus make the hero someone His listeners looked down on?
- What does it cost the Samaritan to help?
Apply · what does it ask of us?
- Who is easy to walk past on our campus?
- What is one act of service our chapter could do this month?

Jesus, open our eyes to the people we walk past. Make us neighbors who stop, help and stay. Amen.
