Help college students find answers, resources and their next step.

College can be difficult to navigate—especially when a student is facing financial challenges, enrollment concerns, housing instability or uncertainty about where to turn. Students should not have to navigate these barriers alone.

Esther Funds Foundation is recruiting dependable, compassionate college students and alumni to serve as EFF National Student Help Desk Volunteers.

This is your opportunity to serve nationally, gain meaningful experience and make a real difference in the life of a college student.

WHAT IS THE EFF NATIONAL STUDENT HELP DESK?

EFF National Student Help Desk Volunteers provide compassionate, resource-based support to college students facing questions, barriers and difficult next steps.

As a volunteer, you will help students understand their available options, locate verified resources and connect with the appropriate EFF services.

Our approach is simple:

• Listen with dignity • Share verified resources • Support student follow-through • Connect students to the right EFF services

Support—not judgment. Guidance—not promises.

HOW WILL I SERVE?

Approved volunteers may:

• Respond to assigned student cases • Participate in secure live chat • Send verified resource cards • Help students understand available options • Document clear follow-up steps • Complete warm handoffs when additional support is needed • Protect every student’s privacy and confidential information

Volunteers see only the cases assigned to them and work within a secure, supervised system. You will have access to an approved resource library, supervisor support, clear escalation procedures and documented follow-up tools.

You will never serve alone.

YOU WILL BE TRAINED BEFORE YOU SERVE

Every volunteer must complete the EFF National Help Desk Volunteer Academy before receiving access to student cases.

Your training will include:

• 16 interactive learning modules • The EFF Resource Passport • Practice student scenarios • Knowledge checkpoints • A final mastery assessment • Human-reviewed capstone activities • Confidentiality and service agreements

The Volunteer Academy is designed to prepare you to respond with care, accuracy, healthy boundaries and integrity.

WHAT WILL I RECEIVE?

As an approved volunteer, you can gain:

• Professional volunteer training • EFF Help Desk certification • Verified service-hour records • Downloadable service certificates • College-access resource knowledge • Communication and leadership experience • A national community of service-minded volunteers

Certificates and service hours are issued only after required training and approved service records have been completed and verified.

SAFE, STRUCTURED AND SUPERVISED SERVICE

EFF National Student Help Desk Volunteers provide resource navigation. Volunteers do not provide legal, financial, medical, mental-health or emergency counseling.

When a student’s needs fall outside the volunteer role, the case will be escalated or transferred through an approved warm-handoff process.
